When I started building Ayni Mama, this was part of the vision from the beginning, a mother-daughter moment to move together, feel each other, and let the week go.
On September 26th, we were finally able to put that together at Synchronize Studio in Miami. And it was truly, truly incredible.
Mothers and daughters walked through those doors on a Saturday morning, and what unfolded over the next two hours was everything I had hoped it would be and more.
Talia Dooz, creator of the Move to You method, led the room through a class that was less about getting it right and more about letting go. Move to You was never built around performance. (Even though our group was definitely in sync!) It was built around presence, inviting each person to feel fully alive in their body and free to express themselves. That is exactly how the room felt.
The mothers had the best time. The girls jumped, and laughed, and really–what more can you ask for?
And at the end, we brought everyone into a pause. It was my honor to lead mothers through this experience, and a moment of growth for me also, as I lean into facilitating these experiences for mothers in my community.
A moment to turn to each other, feel each other’s heartbeat, and simply be together inside all of that movement. That quiet after the music: that is what I built this for.
This is the platform I always wanted to create. A moment to experience what it is to be a mother, what it is to have that bond with your daughter, and to feel it in your body rather than just think it.
I feel so grateful to Talia for bringing this to life with us, and to every mother and daughter who showed up that morning. This is the beginning of many more to come.
Move to You returns at our November retreat, November 5–8 at The Horse Shoe Farm in Asheville. A few spots remain.
