Long before wellness became an industry, the communities of the Andes were already practicing it.
They called her Pachamama, Mother Earth, Mother of the Cosmos. A living presence they spoke to, thanked, and offered to before planting, before eating, before asking. She was the ground beneath their feet and the source of everything on the table. They didn’t look outward for what they needed. They looked down to earth.
In a world that constantly tells us we’re lacking, more products, more plans, more things to fix ourselves with, this feels almost radical: you already have enough. The earth already gave it to you.
This Earth Day, we’re holding space for that older, quieter wisdom. A retreat built around two of the most grounding forces there are: the earth beneath you, and the women beside you.
Because Pachamama isn’t only about soil and seasons, she’s about the original bond, mother to child, generation to generation. The kind of love that fed you before you had words for it.
Three days. Two generations. One intention.
Not to escape. To return. To remember that when life feels like too much, nature isn’t a backdrop, it’s an anchor. Step outside. Feel the ground. Let something larger hold you for a moment.
The earth has been holding you all along. Just let her.
And at our retreat, we begin exactly there, with an ancient practice of giving thanks.
The Despacho: A Simple Offering to the Earth
On your first night, we’ll gather together for our welcome dinner, and the evening itself becomes the ceremony.
As we settle in, we’ll do what the Andean people have done for thousands of years. We’ll say thank you first.
A colorful Peruvian cloth is laid on the ground. Together, we place offerings on it, flowers, seeds, food, cocoa leaves, and anything from nature that feels meaningful to you. Each offering is placed with intention: a gratitude, a prayer, a release, a wish for someone you love. There are no rules. Only presence.
When the bundle is complete, we light it. The smoke carries everything up your words, your wishes, your gratitude, and the earth receives it.
May this weekend root you in what matters, open you to what’s possible, and remind you, through the earth, and through each other, that you have always had everything you need.
